A Meaningful Trip

I haven blogged for one month plus.Sorry for not updating.. Oh ya... Happy New Year 2013!! Haha.. Anyway, this suppose to be my past post in December 2012.

I was away to Cambodia for a mission trip and vacation last two weeks. This was organized by the church to visit the villager and people in need. We are doing feeding program and celebrating Christmas with them. It was an awesome trip as we are blessing people and were blessed in return ^_^

Taken the scenery while on the way to villages
We visited eleven villages by sharing food and joy with the little children and adults that were around during our ministry time. They were so thankful with the food we have for them despite it seemed to be so plain and simple. It reminded me of how blessed I am in my home country.

Look!! Torn clothing but still enjoying themselves
The little children hardly enjoy what some other children may have. Forget about Play station, Wii, iPad, iPhone and all sorts of gadgets, they only hoped for enough food, clothing and a place to stay. Some wore very old and torn clothing that could not even be used as a rug. No panties among some toddlers, they only had a piece of very dirty dress. Hair was unruly, some even go barred footed. All was just looking for enough food for the day. This is how simple the villager can be. But I could see the joy in them. With food being served in from of the little ones, I could see how polite they are - waiting for the food to reach everyone before they start to munch their food.  They were given a plate of rice each and a sharing portion of a bowl of vegetable soup mixed with some meat. This is such a simple meal to us but they were so thankful. We also gave each a piece of French loaf, a fruit juice, a mineral water, goodies bag with lolly, marshmallow and sweets and also a pendant as a souvenir.

We gave them colouring book
Upon seeing this, I know we should learn to be thankful and contented with what we have. It made understand that I should be satisfied with what we have. I have a job that enable me to eat good, sleep comfortably, dress gorgeously, travel to see the world and much more. What else could I ask for? I may not have things that others have – there is no point to compare and feel bad about it. What for? Why not think about what you have and others don’t have? Why not think the other way round? You are getting more than the rest! Be thankful!!!  As a child of God, I am blessed and there will be more blessing to come. Praise God for blessing!! <3

Rice+Vegetables+Soup ~ This is how simple they have but so thankful for food!!
We were there for 8 days and 7 nights but mission lasted for 4 days only. Our last three nights were merely shopping and moving around Seam Reap and Phnom Penh. I manage to get some scarves for my BFFs, a floral top, a knitted top and two Abercrombie inspired baby Ts and souvenirs namely coffees and key chains to some friends who requested for it. Unbelievable isn’t it? Because I manage to even get clothing there. :-P

They waited for everyone to get food before they eat.. How polite!!
It never came to me of visiting historical places, but I know this is a must since I have travel here - visiting Angkor Watt. Walked around the aged stones to explore the uniqueness Khmer people did in the 12th century. This is just so wonderful to see it your own eyes. From there on, I believe travelling should not consist of shopping and eating alone!! What a lame statement. Ok, I will include sight seeing more...

The hotel we stayed at Phnom Penh
Pink Bed Sheet!! <3
